The RA Investigative Committee hosted the students of the 9th stream of the Anti-Corruption School of Young Leaders, and a lecture was delivered to them by the Deputy Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee Arsen Ayvazyan.
The Deputy Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee greeted the young people for the initiative to acquire advanced knowledge of fight against corruption within the framework of the anti-corruption school which is essential for encouraging corruption intolerance and anti-corruption behavior among the new generation. He considered it important to implement the idea of such a school by the civil society, the creation of an opportunity to develop the practical, sectorial knowledge of the students, within these frameworks, by making cognitive visits to competent bodies.
Arsen Ayvazyan spoke about the corrosive effects of corruption on the state development, human rights protection, as well as about the need to promote anti-corruption education and increase the public's legal awareness as a means of preventing corruption, changing public perceptions of corruption.
The structural and functional profile of the RA Investigative Committee, the place and role of investigative work in the criminal justice system were presented to the young people in details.
Arsen Ayvazyan presented the institutional mechanisms for reducing corruption risks implemented in the investigative bodies: income and interest declaration, good conduct institutes, as well as anti-corruption solutions of the staffing process, the internal control in the RA Investigative Committee. The role of the RA Investigative Committee in fight against corruption, the comparative analysis of the criminal proceedings on corruption investigated in the IC subdivisions, were also presented.
An active dialogue took place during the meeting. The young people were interested in the volumes of proceedings on corruption investigated in the Investigative Committee, measures taken to increase the effectiveness of investigations within criminal proceedings. In addition to corruption, the specifics of the fight against cybercrimes, illegal turnover of narcotic drugs, money laundering and other crimes, international cooperation, the problems of the workload and remuneration of investigators were also referred to.
