Wanted for physicist Armen Mnatsakanyan’s murder found; charge pressed
In the result of measures taken in the framework of the criminal case investigated in Lori Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee the person under search since July, 2016 charged with murder of physicist Armen Mnatsakanyan was found.
Armenian, RF citizen physicist Armen Mnatsakanyan, born in 1961, sustained firearm bodily injury incompatible with life in Vanadzor on July 3, 2016.
On the same day a criminal case was initiated in the RA IC Lori Regional Investigative Department according to the Parts 1 of the Article 104 and the Article 235 of RA Criminal Code. In the result of investigatory actions of great volume a number of circumstances, the motive were found, the person having committed the apparent crime was identified; he is A. Vopyan, born in 1986.
Particularly, through preliminary investigation actual data were obtained on the allegation that on the day of the incident the injured with his two friends went to A. Vopyan’s flower shop operating in Vanadzor where a row erupted between the friend of the injured R. Martirosyan ans A. Vopyan over expressing doubt on giving a wrong change for a banknote . With the purpose of continuing the argument the latter took the firearm obtained illegally and went to the field near the highway Maymeck of Vanadzor with R. Martirosyan and his friends where R. Martirosyan and A. Vopyan were separated to talk. During the conversation shots were fired first towards R. Martirosyan then towards A. Mnatsakanyan. As a result, the latter sustained bodily injuries incompatible with life on different parts of his body and died.
On the base of the obtained evidence on July 5, 2016 a decision was made by the investigative body to involve A. Vopyan as a defendant and to declare search against him.
On March 14, 2017 the wanted was found and brought to the investigative body. On the same day charge was pressed against him according to the Part 1 of the Article 104, the Point 1 of the Part 2 of the Article 34-104 and the Part 1 of the Article 235 of RA Criminal Code.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are taken to provide the objective, complete and comprehensive investigation of the case.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
