Illegal Weapon and Ammunition Detected: about 30 Individuals Arrested

As a result of joint measures taken together with the police officers of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs within the framework of a number of criminal proceedings investigated in Yerevan Department of the RA Investigative Committee, factual data were obtained on the allegation that a number of individuals were illegally keeping weapon and ammunition with them, in their vehicles and in the place of their residence.

Large-scale investigative and procedural actions were conducted aimed at detecting illegally possessed weapons and ammunition in civilian circulation. Specifically, on November 5, 2025 searches were conducted in numerous (about 6 dozen) addresses. During the searches several types of weapons, ammunition, drugs, and other items were detected and taken.

In the course of the preliminary investigation about 30 individuals were arrested on suspicion of illegal keeping of weapon and ammunition, as well as narcotic drugs.

The RA Investigative Committee will remain steadfast in its efforts to detect and confiscate the illegally possessed weapons and ammunition in civilian circulation. Therefore, the public is urged to voluntarily surrender any unlawfully held ammunition to law enforcement bodies.

At the same time, we remind that individuals who voluntarily surrender illegally possessed weapons and ammunition before law enforcement bodies become aware of their location will be exempt from criminal liability.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
