Criminal Group that Committed Embezzlement in Particularly Large Amount and Attempt of Embezzlement from Persons with Military Disabilities Disclosed
As a result of large-scale investigative actions conducted, as well as operative intelligence measures taken by the officers of General Department of Criminal Police of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs within the framework of the criminal proceeding initiated in the Division for Investigation of Grave Crimes of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee, it was found out that A.T., the Vice President of the “Beside the Soldier” military-patriotic non-governmental organization, in prior agreement with T.Gh., a driver-technician of one of the military units of the RA Ministry of Defense, deceived a number of persons with military disabilities by falsely claiming, under the guise of the “My Step” charitable foundation, that they could receive assistance in the amount of 39-42 million AMD. In return, they demanded an advance payment amounting to 10 percent of the stated sum.
Then, A.T. and T.Gh., under the mentioned pretext, demanded and on December 20, 2025, received a particularly large amount of 3 million 800 thousand AMD from M.H., who had lost his hand in the 44-day war of 2020, which they fraudulently embezzled.
In addition, the members of the criminal group attempted, in a similar manner, to embezzle money also from R.G. and A.A., who had been wounded during the 44-day war. However, they were unable to carry out the crime included in their intent due to circumstances beyond their control, as the latters refused to transfer the money to them.
In the course of the preliminary investigation large-scale investigative and procedural actions were conducted, including simultaneous searches at about a dozen of addresses.
Public criminal prosecution was initiated against A.T. and T.Gh. according to the Point 3 of the Part 3 of the Article 44-255 of RA Criminal Code.
Detention was applied as a pretrial measure against one of them, and home detention against the other.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing to find out all the circumstances of the case, the full range of the victims, as well as to identify the others in criminal agreement with A.T. and T.Gh.
