Brother Arrested on Suspicion of Murder of 51 year-old Resident of Garni Village (photos)
Necessary measures are taken in Abovyan Investigative Division of Kotayk Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee to find out all circumstances of brother’s murder committed by the resident of Garni.
On June 20, 2023 at 17:00 54 year-old resident of Garni village turned himself to Garni Division of the Police of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs and told that he had killed his brother by hitting him on the head with a hammer.
On the same day at 07:16 a call was received from an employee of “Garni ambulance” informing that a citizen had told them about hitting his brother. The ambulance group had immediately left for the mentioned address where 51 year-old resident of the same village, in blood and unconscious, was found.
On the same day at 08:26 the victim with a diagnosis of “Polytrauma, cranial trauma, coma” was taken to “S.G. Lusavorich” medical center where at about 08:30 he died without regaining consciousness.
A criminal proceeding was initiated according to the Point 9 of the Part 2 of the Article 44-155 of RA Criminal Code and the conduction of preliminary investigation was assigned to the investigative group.
The victim’s brother was arrested and brought to the investigative body on the base of reasonable suspicion of crime committal and was questioned about the circumstances of the case presenting the details of what had happened and giving self-incriminating testimony.
During preliminary investigation a number of procedural and investigative actions were conducted, among them inspection of the scene during which the hammer which was the instrument of the crime was found. Forensic medical expertise of the body was commissioned, a relevant request was made to the medical institution to find out the mental health status of the person having committed the alleged crime.
Preliminary investigation is underway.
