Chairman of RA Investigative Committee Aghvan Hovsepyan met Director of Federal Bureau of Investigation James B. Comey; agreement on developing cooperation achieved
On March 21 the Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee Aghvan Hovsepyan met the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation James B. Comey in Washington.
During the meeting the parties discussed a wide range of issues on development ways for cooperation between the Investigative Committee and Federal Bureau of Investigation highlighting cooperation between the two countries in struggle against corruption, transnational crime and experience exchange on investigation methods.
The parties expressed hope that due to willingness for close cooperation between these two countries this meeting will be a warning to criminals and they cannot hide in the USA and Armenia to avoid persecution.
The Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee Aghvan Hovsepyan expressed gratitude for legal aid provided by FBI in certain criminal cases investigated in the proceeding of the RA Investigative Committee in the result of which it was possible to reveal a number of crimes, including a case of swindling hundreds of thousands of dollars from state funds by cheating. Cooperation in certain criminal cases is the best evidence for punishment inevitability.
During the meeting agreements were achieved to provide mutual legal aid, to strengthen the cooperation.
The Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee Aghvan Hovsepyan invited the FBI Director James B. Comey to Armenia terms of which will be discussed in working order.
Delegation headed by the Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee Aghvan Hovsepyan met the officials in charge of State Corruption Section of FBI discussing issues on the role of operative working groups in struggle against corruption.
In the framework of working visit to the USA A. Hovsepyan met the director of FBI laboratory, observed working conditions, range of forensic examinations, had discussions, including with experts analyzing DNA, forensic ballistic experts, practical employees.
A. Hovsepyan had a tour throughout the FBI Academy, observed the training and educational programs for investigators.
Agreement was achieved on providing professional aid, as needed, by the FBI laboratory experts in conduction of forensic examinations of criminal cases investigated in the proceeding of the Investigative Committee, on organizing trainings of the employees of the committee.
