Delegation Headed by RA IC Deputy Chairman Artur Ghambaryan Took Part in International Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Conference in Florida, USA
The delegation of the RA Investigative Committee headed by Deputy Chairman of the Investigative Committee Artur Ghambaryan took part in International Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Conference held in Florida, USA. It brings together thousands of law enforcement officers across the world to exchange best practices and build partnerships to fight crime. The visit was organized by INL Program of U.S. Embassy in Armenia.
During the conference a number of issues on transnational crimes, particularly fight against illegal turnover of narcotic drugs via internet, peculiarities, juveniles' purchase and sale, sexual exploitation and crimes against children, on the whole, creation of victim-centered environment and protection of their rights were discussed.
Participants also referred to new generation technology opportunities in disclosure of crimes, particularly to positive and negative sides of audiovisual evidence, permissibility of audiovisual evidence during pretrial proceeding taking the peculiarities of justice sector of different countries into consideration.
The Armenian delegation also had bilateral meetings with U.S., Georgian, and Cyprus counterparts. As a result certain agreements on developing cooperation were achieved.
Besides, the Armenian delegation held discussions with representatives of Vic information collection center, observed the project's technological solutions (a grass roots project to combat child exploitation) the application of which gives an opportunity to identify a person, to find out his location across the country at a certain period of time, as well as automobile crash site examination, modern technological solutions for crime scene examination and forensics.
The parties agreed to discuss the issue of possibility of RA Investigative Committee’s joining the project of Vic information collection center.
The delegation headed by A. Ghambaryan visited Orange County Sheriff’s Office, as well, observed state-of-the-art criminal data collection.
