Seminar for Investigators of the RA Investigative Committee by Researcher-Experts of U.S. Center for Strategic Studies (NESA) (photos)
At the initiative of the RA Investigative Committee, with support of the U.S. Embassy in Armenia, within the framework of cooperation started with representatives of Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies (NESA), between 7 and 10, October, a seminar-course with the agenda of cyber security issues was held in the RA Academy of Justice for the officers of the RA Investigative Committee.
The seminar in which over two dozen heads and investigators of the central and territorial subdivisions of the RA Investigative Committee participated, was held in March, 2024 as a result of the visit of the representatives of NESA’s management and teaching staff, at the RA IC invitation and the arrangements reached within the framework of the visit.
The event was aimed at studying the advanced experience of increasing cyber security based on the information and knowledge provided by high-ranking researchers and experts of the prestigious U.S. research center, the challenges of the general dependence on cyberspace also within the framework of the fight against crime, evaluating the best applied approaches in terms of ensuring cyber security in individual countries, identifying regional cooperation mechanisms, as well as assessing the strengths and weaknesses of various national and international strategies for enhancing cyber security.
At the opening of the seminar-discussion Arsen Ayvazyan, Deputy Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee first thanked the U.S. Embassy and NESA for the opportunity to share useful knowledge, comprehensive information and the results of scientific research analyzes with the experts of the RA Investigative Committee, regarding the growing challenges of the cyber security sphere and the international experience of facing them. According to Mr. Ayvazyan, it enables investigators to gain a deeper understanding of the risks derived from global technological developments and their management mechanisms.
The RA IC Deputy Chairman noted that crimes are moving into cyberspace at a rapid rate forcing to change the methodology of evidentiary actions aimed at disclosure of crimes, as well as to adapt professional abilities to new realities. And in that sense, similar seminars are very valuable, and there is a need to make them regular.
The seminar was held by researchers and experts of Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies of the U.S. National Defense University.
Issues on the impact of deliberate disinformation on the protection of national security, the applicability and role of artificial intelligence in problem solving, influencing decision making and implementing organizational change were discussed.
