44 year-old woman did not die suddenly but killed; criminal case sent to court

In the result of investigatory actions of great volume conducted in Lori Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee it was grounded that the 44 year-old resident of Lori region did not die suddenly but she became a victim of violence. Charge was pressed against her husband.

It was earlier informed that the call on death of the 44 year-old woman was received on September 9, 2016 from a medical center; the employees of ambulance, who had arrived at the flat on the base of the husband’s call, recorded the woman’s death.

The investigatory group immediately left for the site and urgent investigatory actions were conducted to find all circumstances of the case. The husband declared the law enforcement officers that the woman had died suddenly.  

Inspections of the site, the body were conducted. Hemorrhages on different parts of the woman’s body were found by experts, in the result of the relatives’ interrogation it was found that before the incident the woman had been subjected to violence – battery.  

Taking the obtained initial data into consideration on September 19, 2016 a criminal case was initiated in Lori Regional Investigative Department on beating the wife, the latter’s father was found the legal successor of the victim, signature not to leave was chosen as a pretrial measure against the husband. At the same time measures were taken to prevent the possible crossing of RA state border by husband.

Investigatory and other procedural actions of great volume were conducted in the framework of the criminal case to provide the comprehensive, objective and complete investigation of circumstances of the woman’s death. As a result, sufficient actual data were obtained on the allegation that the woman had been subjected to violence not only some days before her death but also on the day of the incident.

Particularly, through preliminary investigation actual data were obtained on the allegation that on September 5, 2016 at about 12:30 the husband beat the wife during the argument over personal matters at home. Then some days later on the night of September 9 he again used violence against his wife, hit her with hands and feet for numerous times on different parts of her body then killed her by suffocating her. And in the morning he called the ambulance to make impression that his wife had died suddenly.

On the base of the sufficient evidence obtained during pretrial proceeding charge was pressed against husband according to the Article 118 and the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code, detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against him.

The criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to court.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
