An organized group engaged in illegal turnover of narcotic drugs found; charge pressed against 8 persons

In the framework of the criminal case investigated in Yerevan Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee an organized group engaged in illegal turnover of narcotic drugs was found which, according to investigation data, was mainly engaged in illegal turnover of narcotic drug of “Opium” type. Preliminary investigation on 8 defendants was completed.
 

Through preliminary investigation initiated on July 24, 2013 on finding a pill containing “Buprenorphine” type of drug at 53 year-old citizen of RA, it was found that he was engaged not only in illegal turnover of “Suboteks” pills containing drug of “Buprenorphine” type, but also of narcotic drug of “Opium” type. Several dozen counts of illegal turnover of “Opium” were found with participation of many persons, including residents of Yerevan, Ararat, Syuniq, Gegharquniq regions.
 

Based on the evidence obtained during pretrial proceeding charge was pressed against 8 persons.
 

Charge was pressed according to the Parts 1 and 4 of the Article 266 of RA Criminal Code against RA citizens A. Zhamkochyan for 44 counts of illegal turnover of narcotic drugs, M. Kherunts for 21 counts, L. Harutyunyan for 3 counts, A. Aharonyan for 3 counts, R. Khnosyan for 5 counts, A. Mkrtchyan for 4 counts, S. Simonyan for 3 counts, S. Galstyan for 6 counts.
 

Preliminary investigation on the part of the mentioned 8 defendants was completed, a separate proceeding was separated. The criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to the prosecutor supervising the legality of preliminary investigation.
 

Preliminary investigation on the part of other persons possibly involved in illegal turnover of narcotic drugs of “Opium” type is ongoing, investigatory and procedural measures are taken to find them.
 

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
