Banditry in jewelry workshop; the injured party charged with supporting the banditry

In the result of investigatory and operative-intelligence measures taken in the framework of the criminal case investigated in the Investigative Division of Kentron and Norq-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee a number of circumstances of the banditry that took place in jewelry workshop were found, the persons having committed the apparent crime were identified.

The incident took place on August 3, 2015 at about 11:45. According to the call a man with a knife entered one of the jewelry workshops in the center of Yerevan and threatening to use violence against the citizen G. Khudaverdyan and the woman employee, who were in the workshop, stole a golden chain of 25 grams which belonged to entrepreneur A. Bayramyan. According to the call the citizen’s hand was hurt during the banditry.

A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Kentron and Norq-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department according to the Point 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 175 of RA Criminal Code (Banditry by using a weapon).

A. Bayramyan and G. Khudaverdyan were found an injured party. In the result of investigatory, procedural actions conducted to provide the comprehensive, objective and complete examination of the case, the circumstances of the crime were found, sufficient evidence were obtained on the allegation that the injured party G. Khudaverdyan had supported to commit the crime.

According to data of preliminary investigation, the citizen H. Manukyan, who was in a bad material state, decided to steal jewelry from one of the jewelry workshops of jewelry market.

He told G. Khudaverdyan about his intention and reached a prior agreement. Moreover, the latter told that one of his acquaintances had a workshop in golden jewelry market and he could enter the mentioned workshop without any obstacles.

According to the agreement they had reached, on August 3, 2015 in order to watch the situation in the workshop and inform H. Manukyan about it G. Khudaverdyan went to the workshop where A. Bayramyan and the employee were. H. Manukyan called A. Bayramyan, introduced himself as a customer in the name of “Artur” and expressed a desire to order a golden chain offering to meet outside and A. Bayramyan agreed. Seeing that A. Bayramyan was outside, H. Manukyan entered the workshop, pointed the knife at Khudaverdyan in the result of which the latter’s hand was damaged and threatening the employee stole the golden chain of 25 grams and escaped.

On the base of the obtained evidence G. Khudaverdyan was charged pursuant to the Point 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 38-175 of RA Criminal Code, H. Manukyan was charged according to the Point 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 175 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was used as a pretrial measure against them.

The defendants admitted charges and testified on the case.

Preliminary investigation is under way.
