In the result of investigative and procedural actions conducted within the criminal proceeding investigated in Sevan Investigative Division of Gegharkunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee a number of circumstances of murder of 85 year-old resident of Sevan town were found out. The latter’s son was arrested.
 

On May 6, 2023 at 20:55 the son of the above-mentioned resident of Sevan town called “Sevan” medical center and informed that his mother had died suddenly at home.
 

A criminal proceeding was initiated according to the Point 9 of the Part 2 of the Article 155 of RA Criminal Code. During the inspection of the scene conducted within the framework of the criminal proceeding bruises and hemorrhages were found on the body, particularly on the face and neck, injuries were found on the body’s upper and lower limbs, as well.
 

In the result of taken measures it was found out that on the same day at about 16:00 during the argument about domestic matters that took place in their house 50 year-old man beat his mother and strangled the latter by squeezing her neck with his hands.
 

50 year-old man was arrested.
 

The victim’s son was questioned and gave self-incriminating testimony.
 

A motion was submitted to the prosecutor to initiate a public criminal proceeding against 50 year-old man which was sufficed. Charge was pressed against the latter according to the Point 9 of the Part 2 of the Article 155 of RA Criminal Code. A motion was submitted to court to use detention as a pretrial measure against him.
 

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
