Criminal Proceeding Initiated on Case of Fire Broken out in Dwelling of Field-Engineer Company of Unit and Servicemen’s Death
Urgent investigative and procedural actions are conducted in the Fifth Garrison Investigative Unit of General Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee to find out all circumstances of the servicemen’s death in one of the units in Gegharkunik province.
On January 19, 2023 a call was received informing that on the same day at about 01:30 a fire broke out in the dwelling intended for the staff of the field-engineer company of the unit N of the RA Ministry of Defense located in the village of Azat of Gegharkunik province. As a result, 15 servicemen of the same company died, several servicemen received severe physical injuries in the form of burns.
Pursuant to initial data, the fire broke out because the hearth was lit with petrol.
A criminal proceeding was initiated in the Fifth Garrison Investigative Unit of General Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 4 of the Article 532 of RA Criminal Code.
Urgent and necessary evidentiary and procedural actions are conducted within the framework of the preliminary investigation to find out all circumstances of the case.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
