A criminal case was initiated in Shirak Regional Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee on murder of Russian serviceman Ivan Novikov.
 

On the morning of June 15 a call was received in Shirak Regional Investigative Department informing that a body of a young man was found near the monument “Mother Armenia” in Gyumri.
 

The investigative-operative group headed by the Head of Shirak Regional Investigative Department Samvel Simonyan immediately left for the scene.
 

A body of a young man in a military uniform with damages inflicted with a cutting-piercing object was found at the scene. In the result of the taken measures the murdered young man was identified. He was a serviceman of the military unit N 102 located in Gyumri, Ivan Novikov.
 

A criminal case was initiated according to the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code (murder). Urgent investigatory and procedural actions are conducted to find the circumstances of murder.
 

By the instruction of the Chairman of RA Investigative Committee the investigators of General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases left for the scene.
