A criminal case was initiated in Tavush Regional Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee on murder of Military Commissar of Tavush, the resident of the village of Movses, Derenik Papyan. In the result of investigatory and procedural actions conducted in the framework of the criminal case the motive of murder was found, the person having committed the apparent crime was identified.

On September 18 at 23:10 a report was received from “Berd” medical center informing that Derenik Papyan with a firearm injury on the neck was taken to hospital and he was already dead.

The investigatory-operative group immediately left for the site. In the result of the measures taken in the framework of the criminal case, it was found that the Military Commissar of Tavush, D. Papyan was inflicted the fatal firearm injury on September 18, 2015 at about 22:00  by a fellow-villager on the  road at 100 meters distance from the administrative building of the village municipality.  
 

According to preliminary investigation data D. Papyan made a remark to the villager A. Mkrtumyan, who was under alcohol influence, for his unseemly behavior. The latter got angry about it, took the hunting gun and fired at D. Papyan.

On 19.09.2015 a criminal case was initiated according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code.

Inspection of the site was conducted. The tool of the crime – the gun with the fired shells was found and confiscated.  

A. Mkrtumyan was arrested. Decisions were made to commission forensic medical examination of the body and forensic medical examinations.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
