Preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on explosion at the administrative building of Tavush Division of Tavush Regional Department of the RA Police is ongoing in Berd Investigative Division of Tavush Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

In the result of urgent investigatory and other procedural actions as well as operative-intelligence measures a number of circumstances of the case were found out, the person having committed the alleged crime was identified; he is a 40 year-old resident of Berd town. The latter was found and arrested on suspicion of illegal procurement, keeping of weapon and willful spoilage of property and was questioned.

It was earlier informed that on August 2, 2020 at about 04:00 at the area of the park called “Tsaghkanots” behind the administrative building of Tavush Division of Tavush Regional Department of the RA Police the unknown person committed explosion through an explosive device kept by him illegally. As a result, the walls of the building and window glasses of the rooms were damaged causing pecuniary damage in significant amount.

A criminal case was initiated in Berd Investigative Division of Tavush Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Point 1 of the Part 2 of the Article 185 (willful destruction or spoilage of property) and the Part 1 of the Article 235 (illegal procurement, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices) of RA Criminal Code. An investigatory group was formed. Searches were conducted.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Measures are taken to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of the case.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
