44 year-old man charged with using violence against his sister and inflicting her heavy damage
Preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on battering 55 year-old sister and inflicting her heavy bodily damage by a 44 year-old man was completed in the Investigative Division of Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.
During preliminary investigation it was found that 44 year-old A. Ohanyan, who was divorced, lived with his 55 year-old sister with whom he was in tense relations and blamed her for his divorce.
According to the obtained evidence on August 7, 2015 at about 01:00 the man returned home in a drunken state and again accused his sister of his divorce then he used violence against her, as well.
According to preliminary investigation data he hit the head and different parts of his 55 year-old sister’s body threatening to cut her throat. Taking the threat seriously the woman jumped out of the window of a single storey house in the result of which she sustained open fractures of distal ends of both bones of the left leg. The brother took her home and went on punching in the head of his sister. In the result of violence the woman was inflicted several bodily damages.
On the morning of August 7 the 55 year-old woman was taken to hospital in an ambulance. According to the result of forensic medical examination the bodily damages inflicted to her were grave.
Through investigation it was found that before being taken to hospital, as well as after it while receiving treatment in hospital the woman was regularly visited by her brother and was threatened not to tell the police officers about what had happened otherwise threatening to kill her.
As a result, at the initial stage of investigation the woman told the medical personnel and the representatives of law enforcement bodies that she had sustained the injuries in the result of falling in the cellar of her house.
On the base of the evidence obtained during pretrial proceeding the 44 year-old man was charged according to the Part 1 of the Article 112 and the Part 1 of the Article 137 of RA Criminal Code.
The criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to the prosecutor supervising the legality of preliminary investigation.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
