A criminal case initiated on robbing tombs at the area of settlement-tomb field monument
A criminal case was initiated in Syuniq Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on destroying and robbing the tombs of historical value in Kapan.
On June 12, 2017 a report was received informing that the persons having committed the apparent crime destroyed and robbed three tombs at the area of the settlement-tomb field monument of the first millennium B.C. found in 2012 near Shahumyan mine in Kapan town.
On June 19 a criminal case was initiated in the RA IC Syuniq Regional Investigative Department according to the Part 1 of the Article 264 of RA Criminal Code and necessary investigatory and operative-searching measures are taken to find all circumstances of the case.
Pursuant to initial data, the three tombs of the settlement-tomb field monument were destroyed in February, 2017. The frame of those having committed the apparent crime is being found.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing, measures are taken to clarify the amount of the damage inflicted, to find the items stolen from the area of the tomb.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
