In the result of investigatory and other procedural actions of great volume conducted in Gegharkunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee a number of circumstances of armed incident on Sevan-Martuni road were found out. Charge was pressed against a resident of Yerevan.

It was earlier informed that on November 2, 2019 the resident of Gegharkunik province Gurgen Hakobyan, born in 1979, with firearm injuries was taken to Gavar medical center where he died without regaining consciousness.

In the result of necessary investigatory and other procedural actions conducted in the RA IC Gegharkunik Regional Investigative Department a number of circumstances were found out, one of the persons having committed the alleged crime was identified; he is a resident of Yerevan, born in 1989.

Pursuant to data obtained through investigation, with the purpose of supporting to murder of the resident of Noratus village Gurgen Hakobyan, at the end of October 30 year-old man took a car of “Mercedes Benz E320” from a resident of Yerevan under the pretext of renting. Then on November 2, 2019 he gave the mentioned car to the person having committed the alleged crime as a means of crime. With the purpose of depriving Gurgen Hakobyan from life, on the section of 39.2km of Sevan-Martuni road the person having committed the alleged crime fired shots from a firearm procured and kept illegally towards the frontal and left parts of the car of “UAZ” make in a way dangerous for many people’s life. As a result, the driver of the mentioned car Gurgen Hakobyan sustained firearm injuries incompatible with life and one more person, born in 1962, who was in the car at the moment of the incident, was caused bodily injury not containing elements of light damage.

On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence charge was pressed against 30 year-old man according to the Part 1 of the Article 38-104 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was used as a pretrial measure against him.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary measures are taken to identify the other person having committed the alleged crime and to bring him to the investigative body.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
