A criminal case was initiated in Gegharkunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on armed incident on Sevan-Martuni road.

On November 2, 2019 at 9:30 a call was received from Gavar medical center informing that the resident of Gegharkunik province, born in 1979, with firearm injury was taken to them. The latter died in hospital without regaining consciousness.

Pursuant to initial data, on November 2, 2019 at about 9:17 on the section of 39.2km of Sevan-Martuni road with the purpose of depriving Gurgen Hakobyan from life in a way dangerous for many people’s life shots were fired towards the frontal and left parts of the car of “UAZ” make driven by the latter. As a result, Gurgen Hakobyan sustained numerous firearm injuries incompatible with life. One more person, born in 1962, who was in the car at the moment of the incident, was caused bodily injury.

A criminal case was initiated in Gegharkunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Point 6 of the Part 2 of the Article 104 and the Part 1 of the Article 235 of RA Criminal Code. An investigatory group was formed, investigatory plan was worked out and working hypotheses were put forward.

During preliminary investigation urgent investigatory actions were conducted, inspection of the scene during which about 30 firearm damages were found on frontal and left parts of the car of “UAZ” make and 21 fired capsules were found at the edge of the road, blood-like traces were found, samples were taken, confiscations were conducted.

Forensic medical examination of the body, forensic chemical, forensic biological, forensic trace, forensic ballistic examinations were commissioned to find out circumstances significant for the criminal case.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary measures are taken to provide the comprehensive, objective and complete investigation of circumstances of the case, to identify the person (persons) having committed the alleged crime and to bring him (them) to the investigative body. Instructions were given to relevant subdivisions of the Police.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
