In the result of investigatory and operative-intelligence actions conducted in the framework of the criminal case investigated in the Investigative Division of Qanaqer-Zeytun administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee it was found that a number of thefts in Yerevan have been committed by an organized group consisting of citizens of Georgia.

According to preliminary investigation data, according to the plan previously developed by the three members of the organized group (Georgian by nationality, citizens of Georgia), theft and theft attempts were committed in different administrative districts of Yerevan in early November.
 

Through investigation 5 counts of theft and theft attempt committed by the same group were revealed, 4 of them were registered in the administrative district of Qanaqer-Zeytun, 1 was registered in the administrative district of Shengavit. Moreover, the persons affected by their committal were mainly women, 4 counts of thefts and theft attempts were committed in the apartments and cars which belonged to women.

The criminal cases initiated on the mentioned 5 counts, which took place in Qanaqer-Zeytun and Shengavit administrative districts, were joint in one proceeding the preliminary investigation of which is conducted in the Investigative Division of Qanaqer-Zeytun administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

On the base of the obtained evidence on November 12, 2015 three persons were charged with 5 counts according to the Points 1.1 and 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 34-177 (3 counts) and the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 177 of RA Criminal Code (2 counts).

On the same day the investigator submitted a motion to the Court of First Instance of Arabkir and Qanaqer-Zeytun administrative districts to choose detention as a pretrial measure against them. The motion was sufficed.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Investigatory and procedural measures are taken to provide the comprehensive, objective and complete investigation of the case, the possible existence of other members of the group, as well as other possible thefts and theft attempts committed by the same group.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
