A criminal case was initiated in Stepanavan Investigative Division of Lori Regional Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee on attempt of willful spoilage of somebody’s property by a citizen in the village of Kurtan.

On September 12, 2015 at about 07:23 a call was received informing that one of the houses in Kurtan village of Lori region was on fire.

It was found that the person having committed the apparent crime with the intention of willful destruction of the property had broken the windows of Kh. Gevorgyan’s house located in Kurtan village then had attempted to arson the property of the house which was not completed under the unforeseen circumstances. Noticing the fire the villagers had called the firemen who extinguished the fire.

A criminal case was initiated in Stepanavan Investigative Division of Lori Regional Investigative Department according to the Point 1 of the Part 3 of the Article 34-185 of RA Criminal Code (attempt of willful destruction or spoilage of property which caused significant damage).

In the result of investigatory and operative-intelligence actions conducted in the framework of preliminary investigation a number of circumstances of the case and the motive were found, the person having committed the apparent crime was identified.

According to data of preliminary investigation the attempt to arson the mentioned house was committed by the father of the murdered minor out of revenge. The latter surrendered himself to law enforcement bodies and told that out of revenge, under the influence of alcohol he had broken the windows of S. Gevorgyan’s paternal house, threw some pieces of burnt cloth into the house, burnt the property and left, as the villager S. Gevorgyan had murdered his minor son on August 28, 2015.

The person having committed the apparent crime was charged according to the Point 1 of the Part 3 of the Article 34-185 of RA Criminal Code.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
