Preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on murder of the resident of Abovyan town out of mercenary motives, combined with banditry was completed in Kotayq Regional Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee.
 

On September 10, 2014 a call was received informing that the body of the hostess of one of the apartments of the house 4, Rosia Street, Abovyan with traces of violence was found in the bathroom.
 

In the result of investigatory and procedural measures taken in the framework of the criminal case investigated in Kotayq Regional Investigative Department circumstances of murder of 71 year-old hostess R. Margaryan were found, the persons having committed the apparent crime were identified.
 

Through investigation it was found that 24 year-old Hakobyan, being in a bad material state, offered his 27 year-old friend Babayan to rob his acquaintance’s apartment telling that his acquaintance went to the university in the morning, his brother went to school and his parents went to work. The only person who stayed at home was their grandmother Raisa Margaryan.
 

Reaching prior agreement, on September 10, 2014, at about 09:30 the young men, taking a knife and gloves, went to the apartment which belonged to the resident of Abovyan, R. Margaryan, knocked at the door, after the hostess had opened the door they entered and demanded money and golden jewels.
 

Through investigation sufficient evidence were obtained on the allegation that Hakobyan hit at the back of R. Margaryan’s head with his fist then Babayan hit at the woman’s head with the handle of the metal knife he had taken in advance.  
 

They took the old woman who was calling for help to the bathroom and winding the towel round her neck strangled her illegally depriving R. Margaryan from life. Stealing money in large amount, as well as golden jewels the young men escaped from the scene.
 

On the base of the evidence obtained during pretrial proceeding H. Hakobyan and V. Babayan were charged according to the Points 7 and 8 of the Part 2 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against them.
 

The criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to the prosecutor supervising the legality of the preliminary investigation. The bill of indictment was confirmed and the case was sent to the Court of First Instance of Kotayq.
 

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
