Charge Pressed against 20 Year-Old Man for Banditry by Using Weapon

In the result of investigatory actions conducted within the criminal case investigated in the Investigative Division of Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on banditry by using weapon committed in supermarket in Yerevan the person having committed the alleged crime was identified. On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against the latter.

Pursuant to initial data, on January 17, 2019 at about 02:40 with the purpose of swindling somebody else’s property the person having committed the alleged crime entered the supermarket operating in Baghramyan Street of Yerevan. There showing a pistol, threatening to blow up an explosive device, as well as threatening to use violence dangerous for the supermarket employees’ life and health demanded the whole money that was in the cash register. However, a few minutes later he fled without swindling anything.

On January 17, 2019 a criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Arabkir administrative district according to the Point 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 175 of RA Criminal Code.

Inspection of the scene was conducted, videos captured by cameras located in the supermarket were confiscated, witnesses were questioned.

In the result of investigatory and other procedural actions a number of circumstances were found out, the person having committed the alleged crime was identified; he is a resident of Yerevan, born in 1999. On January 20, 2019 the latter was arrested on suspicion of committing banditry with weapon.

On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against 20 year-old young man according to the Points 2 and 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 175 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against him.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
