In the result of investigatory actions of great volume conducted within the criminal case investigated in Tavush Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee a number of circumstances of abusing official authorities by the head of Azatamut community of Tavush province were found out. On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against the latter.

Criminal cases initiated according to the Part 1 of the Article 308 of RA Criminal Code on abusing official authorities by the head of Azatamut community as well as utility service director of the same community had been formerly received in the proceeding of Tavush Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

Considering that the mentioned criminal cases were initiated on abusing official authorities by the head of Azatamut community of Tavush province and CNCO director subordinate to municipality of the same province, on August 24, 2018 a decision was made to join the criminal cases in one proceeding.

In the result of investigatory and other procedural actions of great volume conducted within the criminal case it was found out that from 2016 to 2017 the head of Azatamut community of Tavush province  Zh. Martirosyan received from the community budget and apparently squandered money in significant amount  - 276.000 AMD in total withdrawn in his name and formulated as business trip charges.

On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence charge was pressed against the head of Azatamut community of Tavush province according to the Point 1 of the Part 2 of the Article 179 of RA Criminal Code.

It was earlier informed that another criminal case was initiated in Ijevan Division of Tavush Regional Department of the RA Police on taking possession of the house which belonged to the resident of the same community by breaching the property acquisition procedure committed by the head of Azatamut community. Charge was pressed against him according to the Part 1 of the Article 322 of RA Criminal Code.  Signature not to leave was chosen as a pretrial measure against Zh. Martirosyan.

A decision was made by the prosecutor supervising the legality of preliminary investigation of the criminal case to temporarily suspend the community head’s tenure.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
