Charge pressed against husband for causing wife physical pain and mental suffering

In the framework of the criminal case initiated in the Investigative Division of Kentron and Norq-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee necessary investigatory and other procedural actions are conducted to find all circumstances of 34 year-old M. Aghajanyan’s death, to provide the comprehensive, objective and complete investigation. On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against the husband for causing wife physical pain and mental suffering.

The call on 34 year-old M. Aghajanyan was received on August 3, 2017 at 06:35 from ambulance service. Recording the woman’s biological death the experts through inspection found traces of violence on the woman’s body.  

A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Kentron and Norq-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee, forensic medical examination was commissioned to find the cause of the woman’s death. The result of the forensic medical examination has not been received yet, and pursuant to death certificate provided to the investigative body the cause of the woman’s death is acute cardiac insufficiency.

In the result of necessary investigatory actions conducted to find the causes of bodily injuries on the woman’s body it was found that while living together with her husband the wife had been periodically subjected to violence by husband. On July 16, 2017 violence was used again in their flat after which the wife moved to her father’s home to live.  

On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence charge was pressed against the 34 year-old woman’s husband according to the Part 1 of the Article 119 of RA Criminal Code. Signature not to leave was chosen as a pretrial measure against him.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
