Charged with murder, a number of significant circumstances found

In the framework of the criminal case investigated in the Investigative Division of Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee charge was pressed against headmaster of “Young Journalists’ Academy” V. Ghazaryan for 22 year-old Levon Sahakyan’s murder. In the result of investigatory actions conducted in the framework of the criminal case a number of circumstances, the motive of the crime were found.
 

On October 19, 2016 at 23:20 a call was received informing that 22 year-old Levon Sahakyan with a diagnosis of “cut-pierced wounds on the left part of the chest and the right thigh” was taken to “Armenia” medical center; during his operation it was found that his heart and lung were damaged.
 

On October 20 a criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 1 of the Article 34-104 of RA Criminal Code and urgent investigatory actions were conducted to find the circumstances of sustaining bodily injuries by the young man.
 

The site of the crime was found; it is the working room of the headmaster of “Young Journalists’ Academy” where inspection was conducted, the suspect, the witness and a number of other persons were interrogated, confrontation, investigatory experimentation with suspect’s participation were conducted.
 

According to preliminary investigation data, the victim’s fiancée had formerly cooperated with “Young Journalists’ Academy” but she stopped cooperation because of disagreements over not paying the promised salary.  
 

Levon Sahakyan spoke to the headmaster over paying the salary in full. Through investigation it was found that on the day of the incident – on the evening of October 19, the 22 year-old young man met the headmaster to discuss the mentioned issue which took place in headmaster’s working room. During the meeting a row erupted which turned into scuffle during which bodily injuries were inflicted to the young man with a cutting-piercing item.
 

After the argument the young man with his friend drove to “Armenia” medical center in his car where bodily injuries dangerous for life were diagnosed. On the evening of October 21 the investigative body was informed that L. Sahakyan had died of injuries he had sustained.  
 

Through inspection of the site bloodlike traces were found in headmaster’s working room, a note with L. Sahakyan’s phone number was found on headmaster’s desk and a clasp knife with bloodlike traces was found in the shelf. Through inspection of “Mercedes Benz C 200” driven by Levon Sahakyan bloodlike traces were also found on the car and in the hall. Samples were taken. Examinations, including forensic medical, forensic biological and forensic trace complex examinations were commissioned to find circumstances significant for the criminal case.
 

Levon Sahakyan was found an injured party. On the base of the evidence obtained through investigation of the criminal case on October 22 the investigator made a decision to involve V. Ghazaryan as a defendant and charge was pressed against him according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code. On the same day a motion was submitted to court to choose detention as a pretrial measure against him. The motion was sufficed. In his testimony V. Ghazaryan admitted that he had stabbed L. Sahakyan; during investigatory experimentation conducted in his presence he pointed out the working room where he had stabbed the victim. However, he did not accept the murder charge.
 

Preliminary investigation is ongoing in the proceeding of the Investigative Division of Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts. Investigatory actions of great volume are conducted to provide the comprehensive, objective and complete investigation of the case.
