Circumstances of murder of the resident of Mrgashat village Edward Meliqyan found, the fellow villager charged with two counts
In the framework of the criminal case investigated in Armavir Regional Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee initiated on murder of the resident of Mrgashat village Edward Meliqyan circumstances of murder were found, the person having committed the apparent crime was identified, as well.
In the result of investigatory and procedural measures taken in the framework of preliminary investigation it was found that Edward Meliqyan’s murder had been committed by a fellow villager because of disagreement on domestic affairs.
Particularly, according to investigation data the 42 year-old resident of Mrgashat having some mental problems had troubled the victim’s grandchildren because of which the victim’s son turned to police station of Metsamor. Negative attitude was formed at the resident because of the idea of sending him to the appropriate hospital to be examined.
Through the investigation sufficient data were obtained on the allegation that in September, 2014 the 42 year-old man attempted to murder E. Meliqyan in the latter’s vineyard by whipping the rubber pipe around his neck and pressing. However he could not complete the crime because of unforeseen circumstances; one of the fellow villagers hearing the noise and shouting came and interfered.
On April 28, 2015 at about 11:00 under the pretext of coming to terms with E. Meliqyan, he arranged to meet him near the vineyard where the 42 year-old man treated his fellow villager Meliqyan with food and vodka he had taken with him in advance, made him drunk then strangled him by pressing at his neck with a blunt object.
On the base of the evidence obtained through preliminary investigation the 42 year-old resident was charged according to the Part 1 of the Article 34-104 and the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
