Data were obtained in the Investigative Division of Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on taking bribe from a person with a legal status of a victim within the criminal proceeding investigated in the same division committed by the investigator.

On March 13, 2023 27 year-old resident of Kotayk region submitted a report informing that he has had a legal status of a victim within one of the criminal proceedings investigated in the above-mentioned division of the RA Investigative Committee since August 1, 2022 within the framework of which he has become a victim of fraud in the amount of 12,000 USD.

Pursuant to the report, during preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding the investigator conducting the proceeding required 500 USD from the citizen to give it to the prosecutor in order to find the person having committed the alleged crime and to return the mentioned money in a week. However, the investigator refused to return the money giving various unfounded reasons.

On March 10, 2023 the mentioned investigator, who was no longer occupying the position held, transferred 204.000 AMD to 27 year-old young man’s account and demanded that he should go to the investigative division to continue the investigation.

Considering that in the report submitted by 27 year-old young man there was a factual description of an alleged crime envisaged by the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 435 of RA Criminal Code, a criminal proceeding was initiated in the Investigative Division of Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

Taking into consideration that preliminary investigation on the alleged corruption crimes is conducted in the RA Anti-Corruption Committee, the materials of the initiated criminal proceeding were sent to the RA Prosecutor’s Office to send them according to investigative subordination.

The mentioned investigator was dismissed from the position in the RA Investigative Committee on October 12, 2022.
