The RA Investigative Committee has summed up the general progress of the criminal proceedings, as of June 17, initiated on apparent criminal manifestations committed during the protests which have started since April 20, 2024 in Tavush region, as well as in other settlements of the country, within the framework of the initiative "Tavush for the Motherland" against the delimitation process carried out in 2024.  

According to it, in the mentioned period 47 criminal proceedings in total have been initiated in various subdivisions of the RA Investigative Committee on apparent criminal manifestations committed by citizens involved in the protests, some of which have been combined.

The mentioned criminal proceedings have been initiated on apparent hooligan acts committed during the closure of highways in Tavush region, Yerevan city and other regions, willful spoilage of property, physical impact, interfering the legal service activity of the police officer, peaching hate speech, making public calls for violence, committing hooliganism with a knife, hindering the professional activity of the journalist, carrying illegal cold weapon by protestors, running over a journalist by a police service car, materially interesting the citizens to participate in gatherings, as well as the quarrel that took place between the protestors and schoolchildren, illegal procurement and keeping of narcotic drugs, psychoactive substance by protestors, preparing to usurp power through violence, infliction of bodily damage to a citizen with a knife, committing hooliganism and spoiling the bus tire owned by the police, committing hooliganism in front of the administrative building of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, mass disorder, hooliganism at the crossroad of Baghramyan-Demirchyan Streets of Yerevan, committing hooliganism using information technology and other cases.

Within the framework of the mentioned criminal proceedings public criminal prosecution was initiated against 58 people, in total.

Public criminal proceeding was initiated against 28 of them according to the Point 1 of the Part 2 of the Article 297 of RA Criminal Code (committing hooliganism within a group),

against 17 people – according to the Part 2 of the Article 236 of RA Criminal Code (to materially interest to participate in gathering),

against 3 people – according to the Part 3 of the Article 452 of RA Criminal Code (interfering in the legal service or political activity of an official by using violence),

against 2 people – according to the Part 3 of the Article 297 of RA Criminal Code (committing hooliganism using weapon or item prepared in advance to inflict bodily injury or threatening to use it),

against 2 people – according to the Point 3 of the Part 2 of the Article 330 of RA Criminal Code (making public calls for violence by using publicly displayed works, mass media or information or communication technology, publicly justifying or peaching violence, as well as distributing materials or objects for that purpose),

against 1 person – according to the Part 1 of the Article 297 of RA Criminal Code (committing hooliganism),

against 1 person – according to the Point 3 of the Part 2 of the Article 297 of RA Criminal Code (committing hooliganism using information or communication technology),

against 1 person – according to the Point 3 of the Part 2 of the Article 329 of RA Criminal Code (public speech aimed at inducing or peaching hatred, discrimination, intolerance or enmity by using  publicly displayed works, mass media or information or communication technology, as well as distributing materials or objects for that purpose),

against 1 person – according to the Part 1 of the Article 334 of RA Criminal Code (illegal carrying of civilian firearm, gas, pneumatic, cold or archery weapon),

against 1 person – according to the Part 1 of the Article 43-419 of RA Criminal Code (preparation to usurp power),

against 1 person – according to the Part 1 of the Article 327 of RA Criminal Code (participating in mass disorder).

Detention was selected as a pretrial measure against 29 of the defendants, home detention – against 10, absence ban – against 14, educational control – against 1. Decision on arrest of 3 people, on the basis of submitting to the court to discuss the detention issue, was handed over to the police.

6 criminal proceedings on 16 people, with the bill of indictment, was sent to court, 4 of them - against a total of 14 persons with charges of hooliganism within the group, 2 criminal proceedings – against 2 persons with charge of interfering the legal service or political activity of an official, in this case police officer, by using violence.

One criminal proceeding was terminated, preliminary investigation within the other cases is ongoing.
