Former Head of Garni Community Arrested on Suspicion of Abusing Official Authorities

During preparation of materials in Charentsavan Investigative Division of Kotayk Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee based on the certificate and attached documents formed in the result of monitoring conducted by the RA State Control Service actual data were obtained on the allegation that the former head of Garni community of Kotayk province, out of personal interest, using official position against service interests, on March 31, 2006 signed a real estate lease agreement with his wife according to which 0.14 hectare land of agricultural significance located in the administrative territory of the community was rented from Garni community by the latter for 25 years, with an annual rent of 3,000 AMD. A short while after it – on April 18, 2006 pursuant to the tenancy agreement signed for a period of 10 years, the woman handed over the 0.02 hectare land from the mentioned land plot to the CJSC for a monthly rent of 40,000 AMD. After it on May 24, 2010 the latter handed over the 0.0139 hectare land from her leased land to another CJSC for a monthly rent of 70,000 AMD.

In the mentioned "pasture" land antenna stations were installed. That is, in the mentioned period a total of about 15,530,000 AMD was paid to the tenant by sub tenants and 13.977.000 AMD in total was not paid to Garni community of Kotayk province causing grave consequences to the community.

A criminal case was initiated in Charentsavan Investigative Division of Kotayk Regoinal Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 2 of the Article 308 (abuse of official authorities) of RA Criminal Code.

On April 23, 2020 the former head of Garni community was arrested, signature not to leave was chosen as a pretrial measure against his wife.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
