A criminal case was initiated in Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on car accident at the tunnel of Heratsi Street which caused a human death.

Pursuant to initial data, on September 27, 2017 at about 06:30 at the beginning of M. Heratsi Street the car of “Volvo” make with a semi-trailer driven by Armen Arshakyan crashed the car of “Ford-Transit” make then the car of “Mercedes Benz E-200” make then hit the tunnel curves and overturned. The driver A. Arshakyan died at the site of the injuries he had sustained in the result of the crash.

A criminal case was initiated in Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 2 of the Article 242 of RA Criminal Code.

On the same day inspection of the site and the cars involved in the accident was conducted by the investigator of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee. Necessary investigatory actions are conducted to find the causes of the crash and all circumstances of the case.

During the inspection of the site it was found that the semi-trailer of the car of “Volvo” make was loaded with food and in the result of the crash the sacks fell on the carriageway of the mentioned road section and near it.  

During preliminary investigation the videos on the case available on the internet were also inspected according to which a woman took one of macaroni sacks from the site and left without any prohibitions. The police officers who were at the site did not take any measure to prevent the actions of the mentioned woman, to provide the proper preservation of the site. A motion was sent today to the Head of Yerevan Department of the RA Police requesting to take measures to find the causes of improper implementation of duties by the police officers within the mentioned case and bring those who have committed offences to justice.
