Preliminary investigation of criminal case initiated on 57 year-old man’s murder in Yerevan completed

Preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on murder of the resident of Yerevan Armen Surmenelyan, born in 1960, was completed in the Investigative Division of Kentron and Norq-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

57 year-old man’s body with cut-pierced injuries on the left part of the chest was found on January 20, 2017 at 20:55 in one of the flats in Tumanyan Street, Yerevan.

In the result of investigatory and other procedural actions conducted in the framework of the criminal case initiated in the Investigative Division of Kentron and Norq-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee sufficient evidence were obtained on the allegation that Armen Surmenelyan had sustained the injuries incompatible with life by his friend during the argument with the latter.

Particularly, pursuant to initial data, on the evening of January 20, 2017 A. Surmenelyan was hosted in the flat of his acquaintance with whom he had been in good relations for a long time. They used alcohol together in the mentioned flat. Then two more residents of Yerevan joint them. Some while later a row over domestic matters erupted between A. Surmenelyan and the host during which the latter stabbed A. Surmenelyan twice on the left part of the frontal part of his chest inflicting him injuries incompatible with life.

On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against the host according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against him.

The criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to the prosecutor supervising the legality of preliminary investigation.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
