The person accused of murdering the spouses died

Preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on murder of Hovhannes Mkhitaryan and his wife Lusine Mkhitaryan is ongoing in the Investigative Division of Qanaqer-Zeytun administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee.

Taking the public interest into consideration, we inform that today the medical center informed the investigative body that 44 year-old Tigran Manukyan, who was involved as a defendant in the framework of the criminal case, died in hospital.

It was earlier informed that on July 29 the person having committed the apparent crime fired shots in the direction of Hovhannes Mkhitaryan and his wife Lusine Mkhitaryan during the row on domestic affairs near the building 30, Ulnetsi Street. As a result, the spouses died of firearm injuries they had sustained.

A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Qanaqer-Zeytun administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee according to the Points 1 and 6 of the Part 2 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code (Murder of two or more persons committed in a way dangerous for the life of many people) and according to the Part 1 of the Article 235 of RA Criminal Code (illegal procurement, transportation, keeping or carrying of weapons, explosives or explosive devices).

According to preliminary investigation data, shots were fired at the spouses by the citizen of the Republic of Georgia, Armenian by nationality 44 year-old Tigran Manukyan. In the result of operative-investigatory actions he had been found in his actual residence - basement of the second entrance of the building 30, K. Ulnetsi Street, Yerevan with a firearm injury on his head and was taken to medical center.

Through investigation it was found that T. Manukyan inflicted a firearm injury to himself.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
