A charge pressed for taking the police sergeant hostage and stealing his gun
Preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on stealing the weapon of police sergeant and taking him hostage was completed in Aragatsotn Regional Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee.
Through preliminary investigation it was found that on 22 October, 2014 the citizen Ispiryan entered the police station located on waterline of Aparan-Yerevan and took the police sergeant hostage.
According to the evidence obtained during the pretrial proceeding, Ispiryan stole the gun of “Makarov” type attached to the police sergeant by using violence dangerous for the latter’s life and health then he tied his hands with a rope he had taken with him and took him hostage.
For setting the police sergeant free he demanded to release his brother who was in pretrial detention and was charged with inflicting another person heavy bodily damage.
During the negotiations seeing that his criminal intent failed and the police officers were already around, he left the captured sergeant at the police station and escaped.
In the result of explanatory work he handed the recorded stolen gun of “Makarov” type in several hours.
On the base of the obtained evidence S. Ispiryan was charged according to the point 2 of the Part 4 of the Article 238 and the Points 2 and 3 of the Part 2 of the Article 218 of RA Criminal Code.
Preliminary investigation of the criminal case is completed.
The prosecutor implementing supervision over the legality of preliminary investigation confirmed the bill of indictment and the case was sent to court.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
