A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Avan and Nor Nork administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on banditry against a department store employee committed with an item used as a weapon. One person was arrested.

On January 29, 2020 the cashier of the department store operating in Yerevan submitted a report in the Police informing that on the same day at about 14:05, with the purpose of swindling the store property by banditry, the person having committed the alleged crime entered the department store and waving the iron chain that was with him assaulted the cashiers. Then using violence dangerous for the cashier’s life and health hit her on the head with the iron chain, demanded money after which he attempted to steal money from the cash register. However 31 year-old manager of the same department store seeing the criminal actions neutralized the person having committed the alleged crime after which the latter was apprehended by police officers.

A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Avan and Nor Nork administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Point 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 175 of RA Criminal Code. The legal entity operating in the mentioned department store and the cashier were found the injured party.

During preliminary investigation a number of investigatory actions were conducted – inspection of the site was conducted, a number of persons were questioned, the videos captured by the cameras located at the store as well as the iron chain were confiscated.

The person having committed the alleged crime who is a resident of Yerevan, born in 1998, was arrested on suspicion of committing banditry against the department store employee. The latter was questioned and gave self-incriminating testimony.

Necessary measures are taken to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of circumstances of the case.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
