Charge Pressed against Convict of “Artik” Penitentiary for Murder Attempt against Two Employees of Same Penitentiary

In the result of large-scale investigatory and other procedural actions conducted in the Investigative Division of Artik and Ani of Shirak Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee circumstances of murder attempt committed against two employees of “Artik” penitentiary committed by the convict of the same penitentiary were found out.

Pursuant to actual data obtained through investigation on July 21, 2020 at 20:30 the assistant of officer responsible for the shift together with two employees of the penitentiary opened the cell door in the prescribed manner to hand over bedding accessories to the convict in the cell of the penitentiary-quarantine department and offered him to take the bedding accessories and clothes put in front of the door.

The latter, emphasizing his hostility towards Christians, approached the door and with a razor kept by him, for the purpose of illegal deprivation of life, he suddenly caused injury to one of the employees of the penitentiary on his left arm then the other on his face and neck. However he could not complete the crime under unforeseen circumstances as the employees of the penitentiary pushed him into the cell and closed the door during which he shouted “Allah Agbar, death to Christians, I will shed the blood of Christians, you will all die”.

On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence charge was pressed against the convict of the penitentiary according to the Points 1 and 13 of the Part 2 of the Article 34-104 (murder attempt) of RA Criminal Code.

Preliminary investigation was completed and the criminal case with the motion to confirm the bill of indictment was sent to prosecutor.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
