Frame of those involved in murder attempt against detainee of “Armavir” penitentiary found

In the result of necessary investigatory actions conducted in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee the frame of those involved in murder attempt committed against the detainee of “Armavir” penitentiary was found, their actions were clarified. Charge was pressed against three convicts.

It was earlier informed that on March 25, 2017 murder attempt was committed against a detainee of “Armavir” penitentiary. Pursuant to actual data obtained through preliminary investigation the murder attempt was committed by the convicts kept in the same penitentiary.

Thus, through investigation it was found that on the day of the incident the employee of “Armavir” penitentiary senior sergeant, while carrying out shift service in the 4th section, organized the walk of detainees and convicts defined by law. While returning from walk after the expiry of prescribed time one of the convicts entered the room of the employee of security division of penitentiary, used violence against him, took the keys and hurried to the cell where detainee M. Harutyunyan was kept. Then he opened the cell door and attacked the prisoner who was alone in the cell, he used violence against him and hit him on different parts of his body with a cutting-piercing item inflicting bodily injuries.

Through investigation sufficient data were obtained that two other convicts of the same penitentiary were also involved in violence used against the employee of security division who limited his movements. However, the employee managed to get rid of them and hurried to the detainee’s cell and together with other people neutralized the convict having used violence against the detainee.

On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against 3 convicts, one of them – according to the Part 1 of the Article 34-104 and the Part 1 of the Article 316 of RA Criminal Code, the two other convicts of the same penitentiary were charged according to the Part 1 of the Article 38-34-104 and the Part 1 of the Article 316 of RA Criminal Code.

Let us mention that the detainee of “Armavir” penitentiary M. Harutyunyan, against whom murder attempt had been committed, is charged with Hayk Hakobyan’s murder committed on January 7, 2017. The defendant M. Harutyunyan was taken to another penitentiary for security reasons.  
 

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
