Investigative and other procedural actions are conducted in the Division of Investigation of Grave Crimes of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee to find out all circumstances of making a false statement about terrorism by the citizen M.B..

Pursuant to initial data, the user of “Telegram” social network, without having data about a prepared act of terrorism, on April 11, 2022 made a false statement on his telegram page available to general public about possible acts of terrorism in Yerevan as well as outside the capital to create an emergency situation.

A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Department of the RA National Security Service according to the Article 259 of RA Criminal Code preliminary investigation of which is conducted in the Division of Investigation of Grave Crimes of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

During preliminary investigation the person having committed the alleged crime, who had made a note with the above-mentioned content on his page of “Telegram” social network, was identified.

The latter was arrested. Charge was pressed against him according to the Article 259 of RA Criminal Code. A motion on using detention as a pretrial measure against him was submitted to court.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
