In the result of urgent investigative and procedural actions as well as necessary measures taken together with the police officers in Shirak Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee a number of circumstances of threat to commit terrorism and spoil property in particularly large amount committed today and the day before were found out, the person having committed the alleged crime was identified.

On August 15 and 16, 2022 reports were received informing that the person, who had introduced himself as Gevorg Sargsyan, had called Mush Police Division and told that he was going to blow up the administrative buildings of the RA National Assembly, Gyumri’s territorial tax inspectorate and other administrative buildings.

In the result of urgent measures the circumstances mentioned in the report were not confirmed; it was found out that the calls were fake and did not correspond to reality.

Data were obtained on the identity of the person who had submitted fake data; he is 62 year-old resident of Gyumri.

Criminal proceedings were initiated in Shirak Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 1 of the Article 314 and the Part 1 of the Article 194 of RA Criminal Code which were combined in one proceeding.

The resident of Gyumri was arrested on suspicion of false statement about terrorism and was brought to the investigative body.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
