Criminal Case Initiated on Hindrance to Journalist Tirayr Muradyan's Professional Activity Sent to SIS

In the result of investigatory and operative-searching measures of great volume conducted in the framework of the criminal case investigated in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee the person having hindered the legal professional activity of journalist Tirayr Muradyan at the third administrative building of the RA Government was identified.

It was earlier informed that on April 19 at about 08:30 the journalist of “Union of Informed Citizens” NGO Tirayr Muradyan carried out his work as a journalist in front of the third administrative building of the RA Government located in Aram Street, Yerevan. While taking photos two people in civilian clothes assaulted him and used violence against him. The journalist with bodily injuries was taken to “Saint Gregory the Illuminator” medical center and got necessary medical assistance.

In the framework of the criminal case initiated according to the Part 1 of the Article 164 of RA Criminal Code necessary investigatory and other procedural actions were conducted, journalist T. Muradyan was found the injured party and questioned. Forensic medical examination was commissioned against him.

In reply to numerous questions from Mass Media we clarify that in the result of measures taken in the framework of the mentioned criminal case one of those having hindered legal professional activity of the journalist was identified; he is a police officer therefore the investigator made a decision to send the criminal case to Special Investigatory Service according to investigatory subordination.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
