Demanded money for not publicizing defamatory information; one person arrested
In the framework of the criminal case investigated in the Investigative Division of Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee circumstances of extorting money from Yerevan resident were found.
A report was received from 33 year-old resident informing that on January 11, 2017 she received a phone call from a man who threatened to tell her husband defamatory information and demanded 1000 USD.
A criminal case was initiated according to the Point 2 of the Part 2 of the Article 182 of RA Criminal Code preliminary investigation of which was conducted in the RA IC Investigative Division of Shengavit administrative district.
In the result of necessary investigatory and procedural actions a number of circumstances were found, one person was arrested.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing, measures are taken to find all circumstances, to provide the comprehensive and objective investigation of the case.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
