In the framework of the criminal case investigated in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee charge was pressed for creating a criminal group with the purpose of carrying out illegal tree felling in different sections of «Dilijan National Park» SNCO and cutting down thousands of trees.

In the framework of the criminal case initiated on illegal tree felling carried out from 2014 to 2017 in the sections of «Dilijan National Park» SNCO and investigated in the proceeding of the RA IC General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases it was found that the tree felling had been organized.

Pursuant to actual data obtained through investigation the 33 year-old resident of Dilijan town with higher education was involved in creating and controlling a steady criminal group in 2014 to carry out tree felling for selling wood. The latter recruited a number of people to carry out tree felling for certain money, provided them with special equipment and vehicles. Pursuant to role distribution,  together with other persons involved in the group the 33 year-old man carried out tree felling from 2014 to October 2017  in a number of sections of «Haghartsin area» branch of «Dilijan National Park» SNCO which was a specially protected natural area. The cut trees were taken out of the wood with equipment belonging to the man, then wood and construction material was made from the wood which was later sold. 

On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against 33 year-old man according to the Part 3 of the Article 296 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against him.

In the framework of the criminal case charge was pressed against one more person for direct involvement in tree felling.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Active investigatory actions are conducted to identify all members of the criminal group and to personalize the actions of each of them.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
