Illegal Tree Felling in Tavush (photos)

Investigation is conducted in Tavush Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee to find out all circumstances of illegal tree felling committed by the resident of Ijevan.

Pursuant to initial data, between February 20 and 21, 2022 46 fur trees were illegally cut down at the area called “Little shamut” of Lusahovit settlement of Ijevan community. During preparation of materials data were obtained on the allegation that the mentioned fur trees had been cut down by a resident of Ijevan.

In the result of necessary measures 2.20 m long 168 pine logs of different diameters were found in the warehouse next to the latter’s house. In this regard, the mentioned resident stated that they belonged to him but he did not show a relevant document.

Considering that the prepared materials contained legal base for initiation of a criminal case, in Ijevan Police Division a criminal case was initiated according to the Part 3 of the Article 296 of RA Criminal Code which was sent to Tavush Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee and was received for production.

In the result of investigative and other procedural actions conducted during preliminary investigation it was found out that the resident of Ijevan, for the purpose of illegal tree felling, between February 20 and 21, 2022 at the area called “Little shamut” of the section 1 of “Ijevan forestry” of “Hayantar” SNCO illegally cut down wet, standing trees of different diameters – 45 “Pine” trees and 1 ash-tree causing pecuniary damage in particularly large amount - 4.335.000 AMD to the state (nature).

On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence charge was pressed against the resident of Ijevan according to the Part 3 of the Article 296 of RA Criminal Code. A motion was submitted to court to use detention as a pretrial measure against him. It was sufficed.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
