In the framework of the criminal case investigated in Yerevan Investigative Department initiated on car crash which happened in Armenakyan Str., Norq-Marash, Yerevan, on 19 February a charge was pressed against the driver R. Avetisyan.

On the base of the obtained evidence he was charged according to the Part 3 of the Article 242 of RA Criminal Code (breach of traffic rules and operation of means of transportation by the driver of a car or other mechanical means which by negligence caused the death of 2 persons). The investigator submitted a motion on choosing imprisonment as a pretrial measure against him which was sufficed.

It was earlier informed that on 19 February, at about 11:30 the car “Volkswagen” driven by the citizen R. Avetisyan ran over 4 persons - 82 year-old Anahit Karapetyan, 29 year-old Anna Harutyunyan and her twin babies then hit the fence in Armenakyan Str., Norq-Marash. As a result, one of the twins died on 19 February, the other died on 22 February in hospital.

 A criminal case was initiated in Yerevan Investigative Department. Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
