Preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on running over 4 persons in Yerevan on 19 February ongoing in Yerevan Investigative Department; the driver arrested.
 

Taking the public interest into consideration we inform that according to the initial data of the investigation, on 19 February, at about 11:30 the citizen R. Avetisyan was driving his car “Volkswagen” in Armenakyan Str., Marash to Heratsi Str. at 40 km/h speed.
 

Getting to 122 house, Armenakyan Str. he ran over 82 year-old Anahit Karapetyan, then drove off the roadway and ran over 29 year-old Anna Harutyunyan, her twin babies on the pavement and hit the fence. As a result, one of the twins died, the other three citizens are in medical centers.
 

In the result of the crash the passenger of the car – the driver’s wife also sustained damages and received outpatient treatment in “Qanaqer-Zeytun” medical center.
 

A criminal case was initiated according to the Part 2 of the Article 242 of RA Criminal Code. The driver of the car was arrested. He is suspected of breaching traffic rules which by negligence caused the death of a person.
 

Preliminary investigation is under way. Measures are taken to find all the circumstances of the case. Complex forensic examination of the body was appointed.
