Murder combined with banditry; charge pressed against 29 year-old man
In the framework of the criminal case investigated in Ararat Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee circumstances and motive of murder of the resident of the village of Noramarg Valeri Musayelyan were found, the person having committed the apparent crime was identified. On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against 29 year-old resident of the same village for murder combined with banditry.
On December 30, 2015 at 10:30 a call was received from the head of Noramarg community of Ararat region informing that there was a body in one of the houses of Azatutyun Street of Noramarg village.
The investigatory-operative group headed by an investigator of Ararat Regional Investigative Department immediately left for the site and in the mentioned house found the body of the resident of the same house Valeri Musayelyan born in 1946, with traces of violent death.
On the same day a criminal case was initiated on murder in Ararat Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.
In the result of investigatory and other procedural actions conducted in the framework of the criminal case it was found that murder had been combined with banditry with the purpose of capturing property.
V. Musayelyan lived alone and was engaged in farming. According to preliminary investigation data, on December 30, 2015 from 04:00 to 04:30 one of the fellow villagers entered Musayelyan’s house with the purpose of capturing property, used violence against him striking him on several parts of his body and demanded money. V. Musayelyan resisted after which the young man stabbed several parts of his body for 13 times including the organs of vital importance.
Through investigation it was found that the young man looked for money in the house but he did not find any, then seeing that the host was trying to rise, he took a piece of wood which was near the stove and struck him on the head. Seeing that he did not move he left the site.
Inspection was conducted at the site, samples were taken, forensic medical, forensic fingerprint examinations were commissioned to find circumstances significant for the case. The person having committed the apparent crime was identified; he is a 29 year-old resident of the same village.
On the base of the obtained evidence on January 11, 2016 charge was pressed against him according to the Point 8 of the Part 2 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code. On the same day the investigator submitted a motion to the court to use detention as a pretrial measure against him.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary measures are taken to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of the circumstances of the case.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
