Person Wanted within Criminal Case on Disorders during Protest in Ijevan Surrendered himself to Investigative Body

The person wanted within the criminal case investigated in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee on disorders during the protest in Ijevan, violence used against police officers and hooliganism surrendered himself to the investigative body.

It was earlier informed that on July 17, 2019 beginning from 18:00 a group of people blocked the crossroad of Yerevanyan and Ijevanyan Streets of Ijevan of the interstate road of Armenia-Georgia in order to express their dissatisfaction related to toughening the fight against illegal tree felling. Out of hooliganism roughly breaching public order, showing obvious disrespect to the residents of Ijevan and participants of traffic they shouted, scolded, damaged the tin cover at the bus stop, used violence, caused bodily injuries by using stones and blackjacks to a number of police officers who were carrying out service duty there. Not obeying their legal demand to stop the above-mentioned criminal acts they used violence against police officers not dangerous, as well as dangerous for their life and health. 

On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against the man, born in 1974, according to the Part 4 of the Article 258 and the Part 1 of the Article 316 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against him had search was declared. 

The latter surrendered himself to the investigative body. Necessary investigatory and procedural actions are conducted.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
