Preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on murder of 18 year-old V. Muradyan in the center of Yerevan was completed in the Investigative Division of Kentron and Norq-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee. On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against the first year student of a higher education institution.

The call on murder of the 18 year-old young man was received on January 11, 2017. As it was earlier informed, a call was received from Ambulance service informing that the body of Vahe Muradyan (born in December, 1998) with cut-pierced injury on the left part of the chest was found on the table of the booth located in the yard of the house 28, Vardanants Street, Yerevan, another young man Raffi Martirosyan (born in March, 1999) with a diagnosis of “cut-pierced wound on the frontal surface of the left leg” was taken to “University Hospital N 1” from the same address.

A criminal case was initiated in the RA IC Investigative Division of Kentron and Norq-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department and in the result of urgent investigatory actions circumstances significant for the case were found, sufficient actual data were obtained on the allegation that the young man had been inflicted the injury incompatible with life during the argument that took place in the yard of the same house, the motive, the frame of those involved were found who are students of a higher education institution, the person having committed the alleged crime was identified.  

Thus, pursuant to preliminary investigation data, the argument between the students erupted over an expression. In order to make clarifications, according to prior agreement, the parties met in the yard of the house 28 of Vardanants Street. The argument turned into brawl during which the 21 year-old young man stabbed R. Martirosyan and V. Muradyan with a knife that was with him. As a result, V. Muradyan died of the bodily injuries he had sustained and his course mate – R. Martirosyan sustained bodily injuries of medium gravity.   

On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against the first year student of a higher education institution, 21 year-old young man according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 and the Part 1 of the Article 113 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was used as a pretrial measure against him.

The criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to the prosecutor supervising the legality of preliminary investigation.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
