In the result of large-scale investigative and other procedural actions conducted within the criminal case investigated in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee circumstances of taking bribe by the deputy head of the criminal investigation group of Gyumri division of the Military Police of the RA Ministry of Defense were found out.

Pursuant to factual data obtained through investigation, in spring, 2020 the latter being informed that the resident of Gyumri with whom he was in close relations, wanted to be accepted for service in the military police, reached a prior agreement with him on taking bribe in large amount for doing actions in his favor by using his official position.

By the motion of the deputy head of the criminal investigation group of Gyumri division of the Military Police of the RA Ministry of Defense the resident of Gyumri was appointed in the position of the head of Clerical Office of Gyumri division of the Military Police of the RA Ministry of Defense after which, pursuant to the agreement, they met near the residence of the deputy head of the criminal investigation group of the above-mentioned division where the resident of Gyumri gave him the bribe in large amount for his position – 1.500 USD tantamount to 721.950 AMD.

During preliminary investigation it was also found out that in the same period the mentioned official of the Military Police, taking advantage of the circumstance that the position of the head of criminal investigation group of the above-mentioned division was vacant, reached agreement with the senior officer of the same division on taking bribe in large amount for contributing to his appointment in the mentioned position. After being appointed in the mentioned position by his motion, pursuant to prior agreement, the senior officer gave him the bribe in large amount – 2.000 USD tantamount to 967.920 AMD.

On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence charge was pressed against the deputy head of the criminal investigation group of Gyumri division of the Military Police of the RA Ministry of Defense according to the Point 3 of the Part 3 of the Article 311 of RA Criminal Code (2 counts), against the head of the criminal investigation group of Gyumri division of the Military Police of the RA Ministry of Defense and the head of Clerical Office of the same division – according to the Point 2 of the Article 312 of RA Criminal Code. Signature not to leave was chosen as a pretrial measure against them.

Preliminary investigation was completed and the criminal case with the motion to confirm the bill of indictment and send it to court was sent to the prosecutor.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
